Data Post Conversions is an advanced feature that allows you to track and reward partners that send you valuable data. You can use Data Post Conversions to connect with partners that make use of lead generation techniques, such as co-registration sites that capture data on their properties, and subsequently post that data to you.
For example, if a partner gathers leads and wants to sell them to you, they can submit that data through an impact.com tracking URL to your servers. Your system must then return a response indicating whether a lead was valid or not. If valid, impact.com ensures the partner is compensated.
This feature is designed for server-to-server communication and is ideal for working with partners in co-registration, lead generation, and other data-focused verticals.
A Data Post event type is set up for you – impact.com’s integrations team will configure a Data Post event type that will receive the partner’s leads.
Partner sends data – Your partner sends their gathered data, such as leads, in a POST request to the URL provided by impact.com.
impact.com forwards the data – impact.com’s servers receive this request and forward it to your API endpoint.
You validate the data – Your server receives the data, processes it, and returns a response. This response must contain a specific value or pattern indicating whether the submission was successful or not.
impact.com records the action – impact.com’s servers read your server’s response and determine whether a post was valid or not. If it was valid, a conversion is recorded, and key data will be extracted directly from your response.
Using this feature involves direct integration with your API, thus responsibility is shared:
You: You’re responsible for sharing your API documentation with the impact.com integrations engineer who will set up your Data Post event type accordingly.
Your partner: The partner is responsible for providing data that is formatted correctly and following your instructions on how to send it to impact.com.
impact.com: Our service helps you track the data sent by your partners.
Data Posts are generally used for sending lead data that a partner has already collected from their server to your server. This is not to be confused with a Host & Post form that posts directly from the partner’s site to yours. A Host & Post form, which is a HTML form you’ve provided to a partner that they can place on their website, should be set up as an Article asset.
