Create Tracking Links

When you partner with a brand, you'll gain access to a range of assets you can promote. These assets have tracking links that allow impact.com to track any conversions (e.g., sales) you drive, which may lead to payouts from the brand.

You can place a tracking link on your promotional sites or social media posts, or attach it to an image or text you've created. When a user follows the link, they'll be directed to the brand's landing page, and credit for driving the click will be attributed to your impact.com account.

Tracking links can be created via desktop or via impact.com's mobile app.

Create a tracking link via desktop

If you're signed in from a computer, you can create or find a tracking link for: a specific brand program, ad, or product.

Important: The tracking link generator is only available if you are joined to at least one program. Some brands may disable the link generator for their program, or disallow deep linking.

Use this method to quickly generate a tracking link that can redirect users to a specific page for a brand program.

  1. On your partner account dashboard, in the right-hand column, locate the CREATE AND SHARE LINK widget.

  2. From the angle-down-solid.svg [Drop-down list], select the program for which you want a tracking link.

  3. Optionally, enter a Landing Page (website URL) to which your tracking link should direct users. If left blank, users will be directed to the program's default landing page. The URL must include a protocol.

    • (Recommended) https://—The link will only use the secure version of HTTP to serve content.

    • http(s)://—The link will attempt to use the secure version of HTTP, but will use unsecured HTTP as a fallback.

  4. Optionally, select Advanced to add Sub IDs, a Shared ID, or a Promotional Property to the link.

  5. Select Create. The shareable tracking link will be available near the bottom of the widget.

Get a tracking link for a specific ad

Use this method to retrieve a tracking link for an asset that a brand has already uploaded.

  1. From the top navigation bar, select Content → Assets.

  2. Select the asset for which you want to retrieve a tracking link.

    • A modal will appear providing details about the asset.

  3. From the tabs in the right-hand column, select Tracking Link → Copy Tracking Link.

  4. Optionally, enter a Landing Page (website URL) to which you want to direct users and select Save.

    • You won't be able to enter a landing page if a brand has disallowed deep links for their program.

  5. Optionally, select toggle-on-solid.svg [Toggle on] Tracking Parameters to append any desired Sub IDs, a Shared ID, or a Promotional Property to the link.

Get a tracking link for a specific product

Use this method if you want to retrieve a tracking link for a specific product.

  1. From the top navigation bar, select Products → Find Products.

  2. Select the product category in which you're interested.

  3. In the left filter menu, under Program Relationship, select My Brands.

  4. Locate a product you want to promote and select the product image.

    • A modal will appear providing details about the product.

  5. Select Copy Tracking Link.

    • Alternatively, from the tabs in the right-hand column, select Link → Copy Tracking Link.

Create a tracking link via the mobile app

If you're on mobile, you can use the impact.com app to create a tracking link for a specific brand program or product.

This link will track any actions you drive for a specific brand program, e.g., Pit Boss Grills.

  1. From the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen, select plus-solid__1_.svg Create Link.

  2. In the Select Brand field (Android) / Select a brand field (iOS), select chevron-right-solid.svg [Right arrow] and choose the brand for which you want a tracking link.

  3. Optionally, in the Paste a link field (Android) / Paste a link to create your unique URL field (iOS), enter a landing page that belongs to the brand. If nothing is entered here, the link will take your audience to the brand's default landing page.

    • You won't be able to enter a landing page if the brand has disallowed deep links for their program.

  4. Select Create Link.

  5. To share the generated tracking link with your audience, select Share.

  6. Optionally, select Customize link to add sub IDs and a shared ID, or to create a vanity link by customizing the link path .

    • From this screen, you can add sub IDs and a shared ID, or a create a vanity link by customizing the link path.

  7. Select Update Link → Share.

Get a tracking link for a specific product

To get a tracking link for a specific product, you can either promote product's from the brand's website or from the Product Marketplace.

Note: You must be logged in to your impact.com account in order to generate the product tracking link.

This link will track any actions you drive for a specific product or page on a brand's website (as long as they allow deep linking).

  1. On the brand's website, locate the product for which you want a tracking link.

  2. Select the standard ios-share.svg [Share] icon on your phone navigation bar (iOS), or select share-alt-solid.svg [Share] in your web browser (Android).

  3. From the sharing options provided, select the impact.com app.

  4. You will see a slide-up from impact.com with the generated tracking link. Select Share.

  5. Optionally, select Customize link to add sub IDs and a shared ID, or to create a vanity link by customizing the link path.

  6. Select Update Link → Share.
